We are honored to share the powerful story of KC journey into finding psilocybin assisted therapy in Oregon. KC’s narrative is one of profound pain, deep courage, and the realization that healing is always possible. We invite you to watch her full journey as she confronts a lifetime of darkness and steps toward a brighter future. This video was produced by our friends at the Healing Advocacy Fund.
A Lifetime of Chains
KC’s story is rooted in immense adversity. She describes her childhood as spent in a very abusive household, where all her memories are trauma. This early trauma resulted in a deep and constant struggle; she shared that she has never really wanted to be on this planet, and suicide has been with her from the very beginning, acting on those feelings since the second grade.
As her best therapist taught her, going through this kind of abuse means you lose who you are when you are a child. KC has vast love to give and expresses a deep desire to do for another human being what wasn’t done for her. In choosing this healing path, she sought to make those critical connections again and rediscover that little girl and who she might have been.
Choosing Freedom and Connectivity
When faced with sorting through a “lifetime of garbage,” choosing intentions for her experience was difficult. Ultimately, KC centered her process on two core intentions:
- Freedom: Freedom from the pain she had chosen to carry.
- Connectivity: Because she has lived a life of isolation.
These intentions were about breaking the bonds that held her and finding links, particularly hoping that her daughter and herself could just find a link.
Turning Toward the Wisdom
The process of confronting trauma is inherently challenging. The power of this experience lies in the medicine presenting things we don’t want to see. Healing happens when we find the wisdom to turn towards those challenging things, moving through the intense thoughts, feelings, emotions, and memories. Resistance, she notes, is often the outcome of suffering.
During her psilocybin journey, KC faced immense difficulty, noting that she was just so locked in darkness and felt a lot of judgment about herself. Yet, she held onto her intentions of breaking the bonds and having freedom, knowing there was an invisible thread connecting her to support.
A Spark of Brightness
The resolution and integration process is not predictable; it is the beginning of a new process that unfolds on its own timing. KC knows she will be unpacking a lot of things, but she emerged with a dramatically changed outlook:
“I do not feel hopeless going forward for the first time. I see a spark of brightness and I’m really glad for that.”
KC is not giving up. She believes that without this experience, she wouldn’t be where she is now, ready to move onward, forward, and upward, certain that those intentions will be realized.
